Positive Carbon, an award-winning Irish start-up that with an innovative technology for eliminating food waste works with Gather & Gather to enable us to hit our sustainability targets and ensures, that over the next 7 years, our food operations will have no impact on the environment.

In Ireland, an estimated 1 million tonnes of food goes to waste each year. The food service sector is responsible for approximately 250,000 tonnes of this food waste, costing €300 million to the industry per annum and resulting in 875,000 tonnes of CO2. Founded in 2020, Positive Carbon’s product tracks and logs all of a business’s food waste using AI to give staff a full understanding of what, and how much, food they are throwing away. This enables us to make informed decisions around our purchasing, production and preparation to reduce the food waste on site.
